Since winning 2 games and dropping 3 against 4 of the state's best teams in November, Lakeside has won 15 of 16 games, including 8 straight in region play. And after climbing to the #5 spot in the state rankings, the Panthers (17-4, 8-0) have the chance Tuesday to clinch the top spot in class AAAAAA, region 3 with a win at home against Heritage (16-5, 7-1). The girls tip off at 5:00 and the boys at 6:30.
In this interview with Jeff Williams, Lakeside's coach talks about what has allowed his Panthers to improve their record since last season, which players are making the biggest impact on the their run, and what he wants most on his birthday, which is today, the same day his team will play the most important game (so far) of his first season as a varsity coach:
