Butler's Drez McBride does it again, making game winner at Westside

Drez McBride scored 18 points, including the two that put Westside away, in Tuesday's region matchup.

Butler's Drez McBride put back his own miss with 6.9 seconds remaining to give his Bulldogs a 65-64 region win at Westside Tuesday. The win makes Butler the first class AA, region 4 team to get 5 wins and it positions the Bulldogs nicely for a run at the number one seed in February's region tournament. Deandre Barton led Butler with 24 points. McBride scored 18, and Keith Littles added 12. Justin Phillips led Westside with 24 points.

McBride's game winner was his second of the season. He made a layup as time expired in the region opening 70-69 win at Glenn Hills in December. Barton also played a significant role in that win, scoring 27 points and grabbing 20 rebounds. The duo talked  about doing what is needed to win in the post game interview in the video above.

Justin Phillips led Westside with 24 points.

Butler has now won 3 of 4 games in the home gyms of the four region opponents which (along with Butler itself) are all ranked in the top 10 in Georgia's class AA by the AJC. With a 5-1 region record, and with its remaining games against #8 Glenn Hills, #7 Josey, #6 Laney, and #9 Westside all at home, Butler is now in the driver's seat as teams approach the mid point of region play.

Keith Littles scored 12 points Tuesday

Butler visits Harlem Friday while Westside plays at Glenn Hills the same night.
