Aaron Byrd snaps a pass in Augusta's first practice of the season Sunday morning.

Tonight at 7:30 at the Augusta University Athletics Facebook page I will have interviews with Augusta University head coaches Dip Metress and Millette Green live from the practice floor during the men’s and women’s teams’ first Monday of practice. Share, like and follow on Facebook to watch the interviews and see the Jags in action in the background. Send us questions for the coaches too, please.

About coach Metress*

Metress is beginning his 22nd season as a head coach and his 14th at Augusta, where he has recorded an incredible .730 winning percentage. 8 of Augusta’s 12 NCAA tournament appearances have come under Metress’s direction, and he led the Jaguars to 3 consecutive elite 8 appearances between 2008 and 2010.

The Jags finished 24-8 last season and earned the Peach Belt Conference’s East Division regular season title by recording the best record in the entire conference. Augusta was eliminated in the NCAA tournament round of 32.

Senior Tamyrik Fields will again be a team leader for Augusta.

About coach Green

Green is beginning her first season at Augusta and her first as a head coach after assisting at William and Mary, and before that Fairleigh Dickinson and Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI). Green is a 2003 graduate of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC), where she was a member of the women’s basketball team.

Senior Kyle Doyle sizes up his options Sunday during Augusta's first practice.
