Greenbrier tops Cross Creek to start region play; an unofficial "Team AugBball reunion"

AugBball Power Poll's #7 Greenbrier earned a 59-54 home win over #10 Cross Creek Tuesday on the opening night of 5A sub region play. Greenbrier executed its half court offense flawlessly during a game closing 15-5 run in which junior David Harris dished out three of his game high 9 assists.

Justen Hartfield led all scorers with 18 points.
Freshman Richard Crawford III scored 13 of his 17 points in the first half, including 10 in the second quarter as Greenbrier took a 27-18 lead into intermission. Crawford was one of four Greenbrier players who scored ten or more points. Justen Hartfield led all scorers with 18 and Jakob Nelson and Jerrod Farrell each chipped in 11.

Colby Taylor scored 17 points to lead Cross Creek.

Sub region play resumes when Greenbrier (1-0) plays Grovetown (0-1) Friday and Lakeside (1-0) Saturday. Cross Creek (0-1) faces Evans (0-1) Friday and Grovetown (0-1) Saturday.

Special note: The second part of the game report video above features a trio of particularly high scorers: Alleluia's Mac McBride, Hayden Hebert, and Ben Dresser. The trio combined to score 87 points in Saturday's 102-87 win over the Gwinnett Barons.

The Angels get special mention here because the team's 5 players who joined three Greenbrier players (including Hartfield and Nelson) and Cross Creek's Moses Jones on the first Team AugBball AAU squad last Spring and Summer were in attendance at Tuesday's game to support their friends.
