Glenn Hills opens season with win over Greenbrier at Paine

Timmy Sellers (Glenn Hills) works in the post against Greenbrier

Senior Isaiah Bauman made a three pointer with less than 2 minutes remaining to give Glenn Hills a 53-51 lead over Greenbrier, and the Spartans opened the season with a 64-57 win at Paine College. Fellow senior Tim Williamson found Bauman for the big shot, and the transfer from Hephzibah recorded a team high 18 points in the win. Greenbier was led by senior Austin Canaday, who scored 22 points in the loss.

The Spartans darted out to a 24-12 advantage in the second quarter behind the dominant play in the paint of 6'8" senior Timmy Sellers, who finished with 12 points, all of which were recorded by the midway point of the third quarter.

Greenbrier's Canaday and Richard Crawford III led a second quarter comeback when Crawford (9 points) nailed 2 of his 3 three pointers and Canaday made multiple plays on both ends to create scoring opportunities. The teams traded leads throughout the second half before Bauman's three gave the Spartans the final advantage.

Glenn Hills (1-0) travels to Midland Valley Tuesday. Greenbrier (3-1) will face Laney at 6:15 at Paine.
